Children's Hospital Bond Act of 2018
On November 6, 2018, California voters passed Proposition 4, which enabled California to issue an additional $1.5 billion in general obligation bonds to fund the Children’s Hospital Program of 2018 under Health and Safety Code Sections 1179.81-1179.102. Eight private non-profit Children’s Hospitals are each eligible for $135 million, five University of California Children’s Hospitals are each eligible for $54 million, and public or private nonprofit hospitals that provide pediatric services for children eligible for California Children’s Services (“CCS”) are eligible for $150 million in total.
The Authority awarded $149,222,382.43 in grant funding to 15 Eligible Hospitals in two funding rounds.
- The Authority is not currently accepting grant applications for Eligible Hospitals.
- A subsequent funding round for Eligible Hospitals will be scheduled at a later date.

Children's Hospital Bond Act of 2008
On November 4, 2008, California voters passed Proposition 3, which enabled California to issue an additional $980 million in general obligation bonds to fund the Children’s Hospital Program of 2008 under Health and Safety Code, Sections 1179.50-1179.72. Eight private non-profit children’s hospitals are each eligible for $98 million and five University of California Children’s Hospitals are each eligible for $39.2 million.
As of April 25, 2024, grant funds in the amount of $9,679,509.27 are available for the Third Funding Round. These funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis for applications received from any University of California Children’s Hospital.

Children's Hospital Bond Act of 2004
On November 2, 2004, California voters passed Proposition 61, which enabled the State of California to issue $750 million in general obligation bonds to fund the Children’s Hospital Program of 2004 under Health and Safety Code, Sections 1179.10-1179.43. Eight private non-profit children’s hospitals are each eligible for $74 million and five University of California Children’s Hospitals are each eligible for $30 million.
- This program is no longer accepting applications.
- No future allocations remaining.
