Since 1849, the State Treasurer's Office has served as the lead asset manager for California, the fourth-largest economy in the world. Our mission is to protect and manage public funds, issue state bonds to finance critical infrastructure, and oversee programs that improve the financial well-being of all Californians.
Our Divisions and Offices
The work of the Treasurer's Office is carried out by dedicated teams of professionals in our core divisions.
Centralized Treasury and Securities Management Division
This division oversees all banking aspects of the state's multi-trillion-dollar Centralized Treasury System, focusing on maximizing interest earnings and ensuring the security of all state funds.
Public Finance Division
Serving as the state's agent for selling bonds, this division manages the issuance of debt to finance a wide range of public works projects, including schools, housing, and transportation infrastructure
Investment Division
This division manages the state's investment portfolio, including the Pooled Money Investment Account (PMIA). The team's primary objectives are to ensure the safety of public funds, maintain liquidity, and achieve a competitive yield.
